The location is perfect for accessing the Northern Lakes and coast, with beautiful countryside surroundings. the Cottage itself is cosy and comfortable, situated in a quiet area. It was great for our little lad to practice riding his bike without any worries. the property is cleaned to a high standard and the neighbors are friendly. the shower is fantastic and the bath is deep and long, which was ideal for us taller individuals. All the necessary amenities were provided, including towels. the village is lovely and it's a great base for visiting the beach and other nearby towns like Maryport and Keswick. We particularly enjoyed the ice cream parlour in Allonby and the fish and chips at the Cod father across the road. Our visit to the aquarium in Maryport was also a highlight. highly recommend a stay here and we didn't want to leave!
Felt warm, no complaints.

the location was perfect for us as it offered both tranquility and easy access to the beach. the cottage itself was cozy and well-equipped, with thoughtful touches that made us feel right at home. the shared outside space added to the charm, and we loved waking up to the sight of horses in the nearby paddock. the hosts were friendly and accommodating, providing us with all we needed for a relaxing stay.
The steep stairs in the cottage were a bit challenging, but they added to the character of the beautiful old building.

The cottage was spotless and cozy with beautiful bedrooms. The bedsheets and towels were of the best quality and the mattresses were incredibly comfortable. We really enjoyed the fireplace, it added a cosy and homely atmosphere to our Christmas stay. the location was great as it was in front of a charming little school and church. It was also just a short distance from the beach which we loved visiting. it was a quiet and lovely place to spend the holidays.
That the curtains were thin, so if you're a light sleeper, you may be woken up early. However, this wasn't an issue for us as we were traveling with young children.

Our stay at St Matthews Cottages was absolutely lovely. The location was perfect, just a short distance from a beautiful beach and close to the stunning Lake District. The cottage itself was cozy and filled with charming touches. We especially enjoyed the evenings snuggled up by the fire. The WiFi password presentation was unique and thoughtful, just like the rest of the house. We also appreciated waking up to the sight of horses in the neighboring paddock. Despite a few minor hiccups, such as a faulty lock box and a DVD player that didn't work, these issues did not hinder our overall experience. The peaceful and quiet surroundings made it the ideal spot to enjoy bonfire night with our dogs. We were also able to have pleasant conversations with the kind neighbors and their dog in the shared backyard. The cleanliness of the cottage was outstanding, and it provided everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Although the bathroom being downstairs was unexpected, it didn't pose a major inconvenience. we had a wonderful time and would certainly recommend St Matthews Cottages to others.

The property was nice and clean, just as advertised, and it felt really cozy. the beds were comfortable and the bedding was soft, which made for a good night's sleep. I also liked that there was a basket of logs ready for the fire, perfect for those chilly evenings. the location was great, tucked away in a peaceful area, and it was a good value for money. We were able to travel to different places easily from there. it was a pleasant stay.
One thing that bothered me was that the back garden felt a bit intrusive as it was shared with the hosts. We didn't feel comfortable using it, so we had to find alternatives for sitting outside.
